Citroen’s legacy of very slow naturally aspirated cars broke with the C4 THP150 in 2008. It is a mystery how that car manage to live through the awful 1.4i with 90hp, the dreafully slow 1.6i with 110hp and the more powerful, yet without any torque 2.0i 177hp edition by Loeb. Probably being more of an insult than an advertisement for the champion’s name, the Loeb edition could not stand up against similar 2 liter turbocharged competitor models of the time.
Citroen C4 1.6THP150 – #Etuners Stage4 Garrett GTX28
Thankfully, all of this changed with the coming of the Prince engine (1.6 turbo, also known as N14 in the Mini world). The car already shared the same underbody and mechanical parts with the Peugeot 308, which meant it was very very good at steering, handling and braking. Now it finally had an engine that was tunable! Bad thing, at 1350kg+ it was still slow.
The owner’s frustration became the reason why this C4 came to us. With an upgraded set of pistons/connecting rods, larger injectors, a much larger Garrett turbocharger, upgraded camshafts, intercooler, full exhaust, a little bit of help from Pavlidis Competition and a custom #Etuners Stage4 ECU tune to go with it. It made 383hp with almost 500Nm of torque on 98RON fuel, becoming the most powerful tuned Citroen C4 we have ever seen.
