Audi A1 1.6 TDI – Stage 1
Following mgpdoc’s writeup of his A1 getting tuned, we were all curious how much power it had gained. Time to test it on the rolling road!
Volkswagen’s 1.6 TDI engines have a very good tuning potential regardless of their version. They gain a lot of power and torque with just a remap. It drastically improves driveability and the overall performance of the car to the point where the owner will start wondering why it did not come like this straight from VW.
The Continental PCR 2.1 ECU inside the Audi A1 1.6 TDI requires bench unlocking first, before the tuner can gain OBD access and load the remap. Once the bench unlock has been done, the ECU can be sealed and put back in place again. Tune files are loaded via OBD after that.
While the ECU is on the bench it is possible to make a full backup. This allows us to restore it back to fully stock.
Upgrade specifications
- Etuners Stage 1 ECU remap on Continental PCR2.1
Performance results
- Maximum horsepower: 145.7 PS (measured 115 PS as stock), gains 30PS
- Maximum torque: 355 Nm (measured 300 Nm as stock), gains 55Nm
