Mercedes SLK 200 1.8
The stage 1 upgrade for the Mercedes SLK 200 1.8 163hp for 98RON unleashes the performance hidden in the stock supercharger. This upgrade is aimed at R171 models with 1.8L KE18ML engine, also known as M271.
How it works
The stock supercharger on th eM271 engine uses a bypass system to control boost. A part of the boost it generates goes into the engine and whatever is left recirculates and enters its system again. This boost bypass percentage is fully controlled by the engine’s ECU.
What we do to improve power is increase the required boost levels of the supercharger, through remapping. Together with this we recalibrate the torque manipulation model in the ECU, its fueling and ignition so that it can accommodate the increased boost levels. After the remap, it is common to measure up to 0.3bars of boost increase. The driver will see a significant increase in power and responsiveness from the car as well as improved top speed performance.
